Febe Van Niekerk
Educational and Developmental Psychologist
Febe is a registered psychologist. She holds Master’s degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology, which she completed at QUT, and has completed her registrar program in this area.
Febe adopts an attachment-informed, strength-based, and neuroaffirming approach to therapy, supporting clients to feel understood, safe, and empowered in working toward their goals. She values building strong therapeutic relationships and tailoring interventions to each person’s unique strengths, needs, and developmental context.
Febe works with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents experiencing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. She has particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and young people, as well as those navigating anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, and relational stress. Her approach recognises the important role of developmental, relational, and environmental factors in wellbeing, and she works collaboratively with families and other professionals to support meaningful and sustainable change.
She is passionate about strengthening early parent–child relationships and supporting families to build connection, understanding, and confidence in responding to children’s emotional needs. She enjoys working with parents to develop practical, compassionate strategies that support children’s regulation, resilience, and sense of safety.
In addition to therapeutic work, Febe conducts cognitive, developmental, and learning assessments. She provides clear, accessible feedback and practical recommendations to families and schools, helping to identify children’s strengths, support learning needs, and guide interventions that optimise engagement and success across home and school environments.
Febe is also a Registered Circle of Security Parenting™ (COSP™) Facilitator and offers this evidence-based, attachment-focused program to support parents and caregivers.
At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.
Learning Objectives of the Program:
- Understand their child’s emotional needs and cues
- Respond to big feelings with greater confidence and sensitivity
- Support their child’s emotional regulation and developing sense of self
- Strengthen connection and build a secure base for their child
- Reflect on their own responses with compassion and curiosity
