Brett has a Masters in Clinical Psychology and works mainly with adults and adolescents. He focuses on exploring the underlying emotions that cause difficulties and aims to develop individualised strategies with clients to help them strive toward achievement of values-based goals. Brett has a particular interest in working with individuals on behaviours that are impacting their functioning in daily life such as substance use, gambling, aggression, eating, perfectionism, body image, and control.

Brett primarily operates from an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) approach to treatment and also draws upon other evidenced based treatments depending upon presenting concerns. These include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy interventions.

Prior to gaining his registration as a psychologist Brett was a swim coach of elite swimmers, surf ironman athletes, and triathletes and before commencing his studies raced professionally as a triathlete.
